Over the past years the German Boys and Girls Open on the premises of the golf club St Leon-Rot have gained the reputation of a youth tournament of international importance, as the last year has impressively shown: 162 top performers from 16 different nations teed off at the tournament, hosted by the European Golf Association (EGA), the German Golf Association (DGV) and the Golf Club St. Leon-Rot.
On the day of the finals, the players even got to soak up the scent of the professional world on the championship course St. Leon: since the day of the final round coincided with the day of the open door at the golf club St. Leon-Rot, the fairways and greens were surrounded by more than 1,500 spectators following the game and applauding successful shots - very much like during a professional tournament of the European Tour. In addtion, Frank Adamowicz as the adept host commentend the tournament from the tribune at the 18th hole.
This year a total of 150 young hopefuls (100 boys and 50 girls) will be teeing off at St. Leon-Rot during three days of tournament, all vying to win the much-coveted title of the German Boys and Girls Open. Fast greens and perfectly prepared fairways and bunkers will ensure that all players enjoy the same excellent, professional conditions.
It is not only on the course where conditions are professional. As in previous years, there will be live scoring on each day, which will be available both on this tournament website and on Germany's leading golf portal, www.golf.de. On the last day, the St. Leon-Rot Golf Club will be holding an open day again. Numerous guests will eagerly await the players on the big grandstand at the 18th hole and create an atmosphere only comparable to events of the European Tour.
The Players Night in the golf club, with fine food and a big tombola, is part of the popular social programme of the German Boys and Girls Open. The special attraction: there will be a well known sportsman that night, who will not only recount from his exciting life, but also answer the young golfers' questions.
