FINALS 2019

The 16th edition of the German Boys & Girls Open are now also history. Once again golf was presented at the highest amateur level and provided suspense as well until the end. On a thrilling final day, the boys and the girls from the 25 participating nations had to keep their nerves.

In the end, on the boys side, the Irishman Luke O'Neill secured the title. With a flawless 66 (-6) on the second day of the tournament (Course Rot), he was able to put himself at the top of the field and thus he created the ideal starting position for the remaining 18 holes on Saturday (Course St. Leon).

Philipp Katich (Golf Club St. Leon-Rot) and Felix Krammer (Munich GC) played along with Luke in the Leadergroup. Philipp in particular put Luke under enormous pressure for long stretches, but in the end he was only able to earn second place. Felix also managed a spectacular hole-in-one on 13th hole, he holed the ball carry and thus positioned him-self in shared third place together with Laurenz Schiergen (GC Hummelbachaue).

The Swiss Olivia Tamburlini also managed a hole-in-one this weekend, nonetheless others went for the victory. Emilie Paltrinieri, who started as one of the favorites into the tournament, lived up to the expectations and won the title. Her Italian teammate, Bene-detta Monesco, made the leap to the podium on the final day with a phenomenal 66 (-8 / Course Rot) and shared the silver medal with Lydia Volkmer of the G&LC Berlin Wannsee.

A successful weekend came also for Paula Schulz-Hanssen (Golf Club St. Leon-Rot) and Emily Krause (G&LC Berlin Wannsee) to an end. Paula finished the tournament as second-best German on a strong 6th place. Emily took advantage of her wildcard on the first day of the tournament, returning with a 69 (-5), the second-best round oft he day, finishing the tournament after the three rounds with a shared 16th place.

The German boys team achieved a double victory with the teams Germany 1 and Germany 2, followed by the team from Portugal. On the girls side the English team secured the gold medals ahead of Germany 1 and ahead of Italy 1.
